What items are eligible for the ENERGY
STAR sales tax holiday?
All
appliances must be marked with the label
and cost $1,500 or less.

What happens if I purchase an item greater than $1,500?
Items
more than $1,500 are not eligible for the sales tax holiday, even
for the first $1,500.

I was charged sales tax on my purchase – why?
You
should not have been charged any state or local sales tax for an
eligible product $1,500 or less. If you think sales tax has been
charged in error, please have the retailer contact the Georgia Department
of Revenue at 1.877.602.8477.

Who sells ENERGY
STAR qualified appliances?
Most
retailers within the State of Georgia
that
sell appliances or light bulbs carry some or all of the ENERGY STAR
qualified appliances eligible for the sales tax holiday. You may
also visit the store locator on the ENERGY STAR Web site. Visit
www.energystar.gov
and click
on “Find a Store” under the “PRODUCTS” heading. Enter your ZIP Code,
select options as necessary and check the boxes next to the products
you are interested in and click “Locate Stores.”

Who can take advantage of the sales tax holiday?
Individuals
purchasing products for personal, non-commercial use are eligible
to receive the sales tax exemption. The tax exemption does not apply
to items purchased for rent, lease, resale or commercial use.

Are online purchases eligible for the sales tax holiday?
Online
purchases made during the sales tax holiday and delivered to a Georgia
address
are eligible for the sales tax holiday.
