Georgia Retail Association Praises Governor Deal On E-Fairness
Retailers Across Georgia Agree: We Can’t Wait For Congress
Atlanta, GA – Rick McAlister, President of the Georgia Retail Association, issued the following statement in regards to Governor Nathan Deal’s comments on leveling the playing field for brick-and-mortar retailers and the online-only competition. “Retailers across Georgia, who employ thousands of Georgians and contribute to our local communities, thank and appreciate Governor Deal’s comments that an e-fairness solution can’t wait for Congress.
Governor Deal’s comments today underscore the need for state action to level the playing field between local brick-and-mortar stores and out-of-state, online-only retailers. Georgia small businesses are encouraged that Governor Deal recognizes e-fairness as not a new tax, but rather the collection of an existing tax. The government should not be picking winners and losers and Governor Deal should be applauded for his efforts to ensure all businesses play by the same set of rules.”
Since 1961, the Georgia Retail Association (GRA) has been working on behalf of the retail community to unite and pursue the common goal of creating the best environment for retailing in Georgia.
